Pay It Forward

Pay it Forward is a custom-developed micro site with a management platform that has allowed Summit Credit Union to effectively run this community focused online campaign annually.

Summit holds events or goes to their branches and asks people to “Pay It Forward” by giving them a ten-dollar bill and taking a video of them telling what they would do with the money to help someone else. Summit staff posts the video to YouTube and the pledge details to the site using the custom pledge management system.

The participants are notified by email that their “pledge” and video are visible on the Pay It Forward site, they are given a special login and asked to follow up on the site within a certain period of time to be in the running for the grand prize.

After all of the events are held and pledges posted, the public can rate pledges on the site with a 5-star system. Rating is recorded to the pledge management system and the individual whose pledge receives the best score wins the competition, getting to choose a charity to receive a $500 donation from Summit Credit Union, and also winning $500 themselves.

Hundreds of videos have been posted each year and many of them have received a lot of traffic, ratings, and commenting. The nice thing about this project is that its really doing something for the greater good. To date, Summit has paid forward over $15,000 to their community. We are proud to be involved with a campaign that has been such a huge success.
