The most effective method for identifying a website visitor's need, without knowing their real identity, is to monitor their behavior while they visit the website. More specifically, to monitor the pages they choose and the website resources they use.

For example:
If a member visits the Personal Loans page, and then the Credit Cards page, and then an article about repairing a bad credit score, we can make some reasonably good assumptions about that member's need. If we had less information, our assumptions would be less accurate but they could be refined by observing additional behavior.

Simply put, Behavior Based Marketing allows your website management staff to display specific content based on paths that your users take through your website.
